I have become mildly obsessed with trying to find new fun ways to create projects from unusual fiber combinations. I love finding ways to make something beautiful and usable out of wool that may sometimes get over looked. The Southdown babydoll sheep is a perfect example of this. I created this fabulous yarn by combining some babydoll with other small farm fibers like Alpaca and BFL and some Bamboo for a pop of shine and fun color. There is also a touch of sparkle because why not?

Southdown babydoll sheep might be the cutest sheep I’ve ever laid eyes on. They are small and friendly and considered to be very adorable lawnmowers. This yarn and fiber comes straight from my favorite local boutique farm “Heaven’s Bales” right here in Knoxville TN. She has a fantastic Instagram profile with more links and info. Southdown babydoll sheep are small and thick and adorable. Their fleece is pretty unique I think it it a shorter fiber length while also being very fine. This makes for a very squishy springy fuzzy yarn while also being nice to touch.
Alpaca’s are practically magical beast with hypoallergenic fur that manages to be soft, strong and silky all at once. These alpacas live happily with Barb at Crashing pines farm in Lancing TN. Visiting them and feeding them treats is one of our favorite pastimes.
The BFL and LL blends all live at Barnyard blue on a small farm with Pat. She also sells fantastic goat’s milk soaps and lotions. She has a fantastic Instagram profile with more links and info.
