#ShopSmall and a Time of Thanksgiving

shop small

Well hello my dear friends,

It’s that time of year again time for giving thanks and getting excited about sparkly lights and cookies and watching old moves that always make you smile. I wanted to write you this blog more as a letter than as a post to teach or inform. I’m sitting here writing this in the local kids Science and Art center, this pretty much sums up my business as something that lets me not only have the time but the extra money to bring them here. I’ve attached to this blog post our annual ( 3 years now) CHY shop small catalog. These are some of my friends and fellow small handmade business owners. I know that each of these people not only make wonderful products but truly love what they do and see it as a blessing in their lives. it does get said often the importance of putting your money into businesses you care about because it really does matter. It matters in a big big way. So thank you so much for checking them out this holiday shopping season.

On a more personal note this has been a really big year for CHY, it’s been a year of quick and welcome growth but also changes and growing pains. I just wanted to say thank you to so many of you who have been here supporting me for years now. I know we’re not always perfect and not the more “polished” option you could go with. There are many other bigger fiber businesses you could shop with and hang out with but I’m so grateful for your involvement with ours. I strongly believe in getting our supplies from smaller farms and businesses who I feel have a wonderful product as well as business practices that I agree with. Being totally honest with you this normally means choosing an option that doesn’t always have the greatest profit margin but I think it’s important to stick to it on these point. Thank you for understanding that supporting quality and sustainability is worth a few extra dollars. Also you may have noticed we’ve gone through some staff growth and changes this year that I’m really excited about. I have loved partnering with other talented work from home moms, caretakers and women of value to their communities and families. These ladies have all been a joy to work with are all externally talented and driven in their own ways. This being said dealing with multiple peoples businesses growing and changing at the same time has meant all of us learning new skills and growing outside of our comfort zones. I thoroughly appreciate all of the grace our customers and friends have extended to us during this time. With out some of these new plans and growing pains businesses and movements can never gain momentum.

I’m so so excited about all of our plans going forward into 2020! This year we’re laying a good track to run on and honing our skills right along with you. I can’t wait for you to see all of the fun we have planned. Thanks for sticking it out with us and Happy Holidays!!!
